The Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre (Telecentras) has completed the procedure for handing over the state data centre VDC3 to the State Territorial Planning and Construction Inspectorate and starts operating the facility in accordance with its purpose.
This state data centre VDC3 is equipped in accordance with the highest reliability requirements and ensures high availability of power supply, cooling, data transmission and other systems. VDC3 has an uninterrupted service delivery rate of as much as 99.982 percent and is certified by the international standard Tier III.
VDC3 data center is one of the most modern and largest in terms of hosting capacity in Lithuania. According to Arnas Zuikis, Director of Telecentras Business Development Department, its indicator, which indicates the share of energy allocated to server cooling and other DC support systems – the so-called PUE index – does not exceed 1.2. This confirms the extremely high energy efficiency of the data centre.
VDC3 also stands out from other data centers for its sustainability and environmental friendliness properties. This is the first data centre in Lithuania whose waste heat will be supplied to the city’s district heating networks. It is estimated that a fully loaded data center will generate about 1 megawatt of residual heat. This energy will be delivered to the Vilnius heat networks through a special heat exchanger.
“It is important to emphasize that management system of the Telecentras state data centers is based on a professional team of specialists and experts and certified management processes. We are one of only a few Lithuanian companies that are certified according to the ISO 22301 standard. This international certificate confirms Telecentre’s readiness to ensure stable continuity of data centre operations in various situations, including emergency situations,” says Remigijus Šeris, CEO of Telecentras.
