The broadcasting of the Radio Svoboda on medium waves has been resumed from 1 August.
Radio Svoboda is a programme of the international media group Free Radio Europe / Radio Liberty (FRE/RL), which is broadcast in Russian. The mission of this radio station is to provide objective information and knowledge to radio listeners in Russia and abroad.
The program is rebroadcast daily from a medium-wave transmitter located in Lithuania in the morning time from 5.30 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. in a frequency of 1386 kHz and reaches audiences within a radius of 1000 km around Lithuania.
“In the first half of this year, when RFE/RL faced funding disruptions, Telecentras continued to broadcast Radio Svoboda at its own cost for two months – in April and May, but from 1 June the provision of the service was canceled,” says Marius Skudutis, Head of Telecentras’ RTV and Infrastructure Division. “We are pleased that RFE/RL has been able to resolve the operational financing issues, which has allowed us to immediately resume the broadcasting of Radio Svoboda.”
